LEGAL EXPERIENCE

Dallas County Prosecutor (1993-1996)
Judge Hoffman began her legal career as a prosecutor under John Vance in 1993. She started as a misdemeanor prosecutor where she prosecuted all types of misdemeanor cases and was quickly promoted to Chief of a misdemeanor court. She served 3 different misdemeanor courts as a Chief Prosecutor. She was promoted to the felony courts where she handled every type of felony, from homicides to sexual assault cases. Judge Hoffman was then asked to work in three of the busiest felony courts as a child abuse prosecutor. She was responsible for over 170 active cases which involved either sexual abuse or injury to a child.  Judge Hoffman tried many cases and was in trial almost every week.

New York City Felony Prosecutor (1997-2002)
Judge Hoffman moved to N.Y. City in 1996. She worked in a medical malpractice defense firm in Manhattan where she realized her passion was in criminal law. She was quickly hired by Charles Joe Hynes, the Brooklyn (Kings County) District Attorney and immediately began prosecuting felony cases. She was assigned several homicides and after many successful trials, she was promoted to Sr. Assistant District Attorney and then to Supervising Senior Assistant District Attorney. Because of Judge Hoffman’s record and achievements in the office, she was promoted to the Homicide Bureau, a prestigious placement in the Brooklyn office. She was responsible for prosecuting multiple homicides, high profile cases and multiple defendant cases. She also participated in the pre-arrest investigation of homicides throughout Brooklyn and was called out many times in the middle of the night to aid police officers in their investigation. Judge Hoffman also worked on several legal briefs and was involved in several post conviction matters.

Criminal Defense Attorney (defended hundreds of cases - 2002- 2007)
After 6 ½ years in N.Y. City, Judge Hoffman returned to her hometown, Dallas, and opened her own practice as a criminal defense attorney.  For 4 years, Judge Hoffman represented citizens throughout all of North Texas accused of misdemeanors and felonies ranging from DWIs to homicides.
